How to Sync Outlook on 2 Windows (dual boot)
Synchronization is the simplest way of accessing mailboxes without opening a dedicated system. What it simply do is it provides complete accessibility to the mailbox items in real time/online. This means that whenever user logins/auto-logins into another system with synchronization mode, every time user works online and has complete authorization of making any changes related to entire mailbox items. Therefore, whenever user makes access from original system, the changes made in the mailbox items will be clearly displayed in such situation.
However, the sync condition entirely changes when MS Outlook and Windows are concerned. Technically, MS Outlook and Windows share a parenting behavior as MS Outlook needs an operating system as a platform to establish itself. Once Windows provides access to install MS Outlook, the functionality of the MS Outlook starts functioning. Now, user can access the mailbox from Outlook.
Where the problem lies?
Most likely there are users who wish to access their mailbox from different systems loaded with different Windows versions. They may be Windows 10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP/2000/98/NT and 95. However, there are chances of some untowardly technical interruptions that may hinder the synchronization process. They may entail following:
- Non-availability of updated versions.
- Bulky application packages.
- Slow performance.
- Other technical interruptions.
Thus, sync of MS Outlook to different Windows is considered more challenging by professionals; therefore, sometimes they do not prefer to take such violent task.
Points to Remember
Apart from being tagged as a core technical task, there is a solution of such task. The main element in keeping accessibility constant from the two systems is MS Outlook’s PST file. If you wish to merge your work Outlook with other Outlook mailbox, then simply copy the PST files from MS Outlook that you want to move and paste the same on existing folder, thus overriding existing PST files. During the entire step make sure that first Outlook account is closed after copying PST files.
Performing Outlook Migration in two Windows
It is simply impossible to automatically synchronize MS Outlook between two systems. However, with an idea of copying PST files and making second copy of them can make the work easy. The only limitation in such process is increase in PST file size. In such event user can remain secure by implementing MS Back-up utility.
Once user has copied the PST files, it is a time to create second PST files that will be accessed from different systems and it will work on sync. The process to create second PST is as follows:
- Click File menu followed by New.
- Click Outlook Data File.
- According to Windows version use anyone of the option.
- Outlook 2002: Click Personal Folders file (.PST), if more than one option is listed, then click OK.
- Outlook 2007: If one system uses MS Outlook 2003 or 2007, click Office Outlook Personal Folders file (PST) and then click OK; however, if other computer uses Outlook 2002 or its earlier version, then Click Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (PST) followed by OK.
4. Give a descriptive name to the newly created folder so that it can be easily distinguished by the user.
This explanation is relevant only for PST files; however, description for copying mailbox items are as follows:
- In Outlook open original Calendar folder.
- Click Folder on the ribbon followed by Copy Calendar on the ribbon.
- In Copy Folder dialog box, click Shared Folders followed by OK.
- Repeat step 2 and 3 for Contacts and Task Folders. Now, Contacts, Task Folders and Calendar is in your new PST file.
Once user is done with creation of new PST file, the Outlook must be restarted so that synchronization can be made perfectly in two systems with different Windows version.
