How to recover Deleted Outlook Emails
If you are a user of MS Outlook and are not aware of ‘Outlook Dumpster’, then this article is of your immense help. This article will teach on how you will be able to recover all your emails that are hard deleted or lost after emptying the ‘Deleted Items’ folder.
Almost all Outlook users are aware of the fact that anything they delete from their mailbox goes to the ‘Delete Items’ folder from where they can easily recover the data, if they want. However, this might be a new finding or you to know that the emails deleted from the ‘Deleted Items’ folder and the hard deleted emails (deleted by pressing ‘SHIFT+DELETE together) also remain there for some time.
The Dumpster:
The place, where these deleted emails reside after aforementioned scenarios, is ‘Outlook Dumpster’. The ‘Dumpster’ is a place where MS Exchange Server stores all deleted items for a certain period of time. This time period is called ‘Retention Period’ and is set by the Exchange Server Administrator. You can access the Dumpster from your Outlook itself by following the below mentioned steps:
• Select the ‘Deleted Items’ folder
• Go to ‘Tools>>Recover Deleted Items’
This opens a window that contains all the emails deleted from the ‘Deleted Items’ folder, which have not crossed their ‘Retention Period’. However, this ‘Dumpster’ only shows those emails that have passed through ‘Deleted Items’ folder of your Outlook, but the emails that are hard deleted are not shown here.
However, you need not to panic for the recovery of the emails that are hard deleted, as for them Outlook provides ‘Hidden Dumpster’. To access ‘Hidden Dumpster’ you have to make some changes in the Registry. You can follow the below mentioned steps to change the Registry settings, but you have to be careful during this process as it may corrupt your complete machine, if not followed properly.
Hidden Dumpster:
The hidden dumpster enables ‘Recover Deleted Items’ options for every other folder of Outlook and enables you to recover emails that are deleted directly from a folder by hard deletion. To enable this option, follow the steps described below:
• Close Outlook completely.
• Then go to ‘Start>>Run’ and type ‘regedit’ and then click ‘OK’ and the Registry Editor opens.
• Go to ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options’.
• Click ‘Edit>>New>>DWORD Value’
• Now rename this new value: DumpsterAlwaysOn
• Double click this new value and set it to 1 and click ‘OK’
• Close ‘regedit’ and then restart Outlook.
With the help of the ‘Outlook Dumpster’ you can perform recovery of your deleted emails. However, the emails, which have exceeded their retention period, are not seen here and to recover them, you have to use an efficient deleted email recovery software. Reliable deleted email recovery tool recovers deleted emails from MS Outlook and Outlook Express and without changing the formatting of RTF and HTML messages.
