At times users encounter errors when accessing their Exchange Mailbox data through OST files. These errors often occur as a result of broken synchronisation between Outlook and Exchange, but the most common cause is the OST file itself.

When you try to send or receive an email in Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013, you may encounter error 0x8004010F. This error mostly occurs because of a corrupted Outlook profile and you will simply need to create a new Outlook profile to resolve it. Step 1: Locate the default Outlook data file

  • Open Control Panel and click Mail.
  • In the Mail Setup – Outlook dialog box, click Show Profiles.
  • Select you current Outlook profile, and click the Properties button.
  • In the next Mail Setup – Outlook dialog box, click Data Files.
  • In the Account Settings wizard, note the name and location of the default data file for your Outlook profile, and click Close.

Step 2:  Create a new Outlook profile

Here we will manually create an IMAP or POP3 email account.

  • Go to Control Panel and select Mail.
  • In the Mail Setup – Outlook dialog box, click Show Profiles.
  • In the General tab of Mail dialog box, click Add.
  • In Add New Account wizard, select Manually configure server settings or additional server types, and click Next.
  • Choose the Service as Internet E-mail, and click Next
  • In the Internet E-mail Settings wizard, type your account details. To test your account, click Test Account Settings.
  • Select Existing Outlook Data File and click Browse. After browsing the previously located Outlook data file, click Next.
  • After the successful competition of tests in Test Account Settings dialog box, click Close.
  • In the Add New Account wizard, click Finish.

Step 3: Configure the new Outlook profile as the default profile.

To set your new Outlook profile as the default profile, follow the steps below:

  • In the general tab of Mail dialog box, select your new profile and check always use this profile option. And click Ok.
